What is a PWA?

Fictionry is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your device just like a native app — but without downloading anything from an app store. It launches from your home screen, works offline for cached content, and sends push notifications for new chapters.

Install on iOS (Safari)

  1. Open Fictionry in Safari (it must be Safari — other iOS browsers don't support PWA install)
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up) in the bottom toolbar
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  4. Give it a name (or keep the default) and tap "Add"

The Fictionry icon will appear on your home screen. Tap it to launch the app in full-screen mode with no browser chrome.

Install on Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Fictionry in Chrome
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right
  3. Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"
  4. Confirm the installation

On some Android devices, you may also see an install banner at the bottom of the screen automatically. Just tap "Install" when it appears.

Install on Desktop

On desktop Chrome or Edge, look for the install icon in the address bar (it looks like a monitor with a download arrow). Click it and confirm to install Fictionry as a desktop app.

The desktop app opens in its own window, separate from your browser. It's great for distraction-free reading sessions.
